Construction Projects

UPCOMING WEEKEND CLOSURES

Beginning Saturday, March 2, at 11 p.m., drivers can expect lane closures at the Bangerter Highway and 9800 South intersection, lasting through Sunday, March 3. These lane closures will allow crews to drive piles in the middle of the intersection as part of the upcoming utility relocations, which are an important step in constructing the new interchange.

This work will be done in two phases and each phase will require a full weekend of lane closures. The second phase is anticipated to take place beginning Saturday, March 9.  Due to night noise restrictions, pile driving operations will only be conducted during the day.

Please note that there will be different lane closures and traffic shifts for each phase. Be sure to look at both detour maps and plan ahead for travel delays.
Below is information on both phases, including the impacts and detours for both weekends.

PHASE ONE
Starting Saturday, March 2, through Sunday, March 3, drivers can expect no east-west travel across Bangerter Highway at 9800 South and no left-hand turn movements at the Bangerter Highway and 9800 South intersection. Right turns on and off Bangerter Highway will be maintained at the intersection during this work.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
  • No east-west travel on 9800 South through the intersection
  • No left turns at the intersection
  • Right turns maintained in every direction at the intersection
Drivers should expect delays in the area and can use 9000 South or 10400 South as alternate routes.

PHASE TWO
Starting Saturday, March 9, through Sunday, March 10, drivers can expect traffic changes, including no eastbound travel across Bangerter Highway at 9800 South. TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
One lane for westbound traffic on the west side of 9800 South
  • No eastbound through traffic on the west side of 9800 South
  • One left turn lane from northbound Bangerter Highway to westbound 9800 South
Drivers should expect delays in the area and can use 9000 South or 10400 South as alternate routes.
