UPCOMING WEEKEND CLOSURES

Beginning Saturday, March 2, at 11 p.m., drivers can expect lane closures at the Bangerter Highway and 9800 South intersection, lasting through Sunday, March 3. These lane closures will allow crews to drive piles in the middle of the intersection as part of the upcoming utility relocations, which are an important step in constructing the new interchange.  

PHASE ONE
Starting Saturday, March 2, through Sunday, March 3, drivers can expect no east-west travel across Bangerter Highway at 9800 South and no left-hand turn movements at the Bangerter Highway and 9800 South intersection. Right turns on and off Bangerter Highway will be maintained at the intersection during this work. 

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:  
  • No east-west travel on 9800 South through the intersection 
  • No left turns at the intersection  
  • Right turns maintained in every direction at the intersection 
Drivers should expect delays in the area and can use 9000 South or 10400 South as alternate routes.

PHASE TWO
Starting Saturday, March 9, through Sunday, March 10, drivers can expect traffic changes, including no eastbound travel across Bangerter Highway at 9800 South. Westbound traffic will be one way through the intersection. To accommodate the one-way traffic, northbound traffic turning left from Bangerter Highway onto westbound 9800 South will be reduced to one lane. 

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: 
One lane for westbound traffic on the west side of 9800 South 
  • No eastbound through traffic on the west side of 9800 South 
  • One left turn lane from northbound Bangerter Highway to westbound 9800 South

Phase Two 9800 South Intersection-UDOT


Overnight Pedestrian Bridge Removal


On Friday, March 15, from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. there will be a full overnight closure of Bangerter Highway at 9800 South as crews remove the pedestrian bridge. During this work there will be no through traffic on northbound and southbound Bangerter Highway. Traffic in both directions will be detoured via 9000 South and 10400 South.

Access to the pedestrian bridge will close on Friday, March 8, as crews begin preliminary work to remove the bridge. Pedestrians will not be able to cross Bangerter Highway at 9800 South. A new pedestrian bridge will be constructed and open for use in fall 2024, before the new school year begins.
