South Jordan residents, community leaders, and partners gathered at The Ballpark at America First Square for Mayor Dawn R. Ramsey’s annual State of the City address, an evening focused on reflection, momentum, and what lies ahead.

The program opened with a patriotic tribute, including the national anthem performed by the Herriman High School Madrigals, the Pledge of Allegiance led by South Jordan resident and U.S. military veteran Kenneth Brown, and an invocation from Pastors Chris and Hannah Bechtel of Sego Church.

In her remarks, Mayor Ramsey described 2025 as an extraordinary year shaped by partnership and community engagement. She highlighted the opening of the new ballpark and the surrounding urban center, expanded transit access with the City’s third TRAX station, continued innovation through initiatives like Pure SoJo, and investments in public safety, recreation, and customer-focused services such as the new Passport Office. 

“South Jordan’s success story is not written at City Hall alone—it’s written by our residents, businesses, employees, and partners,” Ramsey said.

Looking ahead, the Mayor outlined priorities for 2026, including a new 17,000-square-foot senior center paired with affordable senior housing, continued economic growth that will bring new jobs, restaurants, and entertainment, and plans for a professional pickleball facility serving both residents and visitors.

The program also featured conversations with guest speakers on housing, development, legislative priorities, and civic engagement. A highlight of the evening was the announcement that South Jordan will host the Major Brent Taylor Foundation’s traveling 9/11 memorial exhibit as part of the 25th anniversary of September 11 and the nation’s America 250 celebration.

Guest speakers discussed key initiatives and partnerships shaping South Jordan’s future, including:

• Porter Openshaw — Ivory Innovations, addressing the City’s partnership on a new 17,000-square-foot senior center and approximately 200 senior housing units, with 75% designated as affordable.
• Tracy Miller — Utah House of Representatives, providing a preview of the upcoming legislative session with a focus on affordability and local–state collaboration.
• Wade Williams — Developer, outlining plans for a proposed professional pickleball facility designed to host club play, community use, and major events.
• Jennie Taylor — Major Brent Taylor Foundation, announcing that South Jordan will host the Foundation’s traveling 9/11 memorial exhibit in connection with the 25th anniversary of September 11 and as a featured component of America 250 programming.

Mayor Ramsey closed the evening by thanking residents, volunteers, City staff, and partners, emphasizing a shared commitment to thoughtful growth, strong quality of life, and shaping South Jordan’s future together.
